Time Entry Systems Training
This project demonstrates my approach to designing practical, performance-focused systems training that supports accurate task completion in a real workplace context. It is representative of systems-based training I designed and developed in one of my instructional design roles. While details have been adopted for portfolio purposes, the instructional approach, structure, and supporting artifacts reflect real-world training needs.
Introduction
The course focuses on helping employees confidently and accurately enter time into a system, a task required frequently with direct payroll and compliance implications. Rather than emphasizing system memorization, the design prioritizes clarity, practice, and learner confidence to reduce errors.
Course Context
A systems-based training project demonstrating performance-focused instructional design, procedural storytelling, and supporting artifacts.
Audience: Employees responsible for entering time into a time management system, including new hires and existing staff.
Problem: Inaccurate or late time entries that lead to payroll errors, compliance issues, and increased follow-up from managers and HR.
Solution: A self-paced, performance-focused course and job aid that provides step-by-step guidance and practice to help learners accurately enter and submit time by the deadline.
Tools Used: Articulate Storyline 360, Canva, Copilot & ChatGPT
Artifacts included in this project
This project includes artifacts to demonstrate instructional design thinking and development execution.
Interactive Course (Storyline 360)
I designed a self-paced course that guides learners through the time entry process with clear task direction, practice opportunities, and performance-based feedback.
Job Aid (In Progress)
This reference tool is designed to support on-the-job performance after course completion. The job aid reinforces key steps and serves as performance support for employees who need a quick guide or refresher and demonstrates my ability to focus on learner ongoing needs.
Storyboard
A detailed storyboard outlining course flow, instructional decisions, on-screen text, and interactions. This artifact highlights my ability to plan instruction intentionally prior to development and collaborate with stakeholders.
